Silver named Wrestler of the Week

Luke Silver (Dallas, Texas) has been named Wrestler of the Week for the week of November 1-7.

Each week, will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level. The announcement will be made each week on Wednesday.

Last week, Silver became the first Texas wrestler to win the Super 32 Challenge in Greensboro, N.C., noted by many as the top pre-season tournament in the country. Silver won seven matches in an 87-man weight class to claim first place at 135 lbs.

In the finals, Silver defeated Virginia state champion Adam Pittman, 3-2. He also defeated wrestlers from Florida, North Carolina, Ohio and New Jersey on his way to the crown.

Silver is a two-time Texas Prep State Champion for Bishop Lynch High School in Dallas. His father, Steve Silver, served as the Team Leader for the 2005 U.S. Freestyle World Team this year.
