Fortune named Wrestler of the Week

Tyrell Fortune (Portland, Ore./Peninsula WC) has been named Wrestler of the Week for the week of March 28- April 3.

Each week, will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level. The announcement will be made each week on Wednesday.

Fortune was one of 13 Cadet wrestlers who captured both Greco-Roman and freestyle titles at the Northwest Regionals on Friday through Sunday in Battle Ground, Wash. The event served as a qualifier for the ASICS/Vaughan Cadet Nationals in Fargo. The top three in each weight qualify for their state teams for the national meet.

Fortune defeated Colby Davis of Washington by a 6-0, 7-0 technical fall in the freestyle finals at 215 pounds. He pinned Zach Teuber of Washington in the Greco-Roman finals.

Fortune won Cadet National championships in both Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestling last year, and returns to defend his titles this summer. He has won numerous USA Wrestling regional and state titles in both styles.

He attends Parkrose High School in Portland.
