Faruk Sahin named Wrestler of the Week for May 18-24

Faruk Sahin (Colorado Springs, Colo./U.S. Army) has been named Wrestler of the Week for May 18-24.

Each week, will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level.

Sahin was named the Outstanding Wrestler at the Curby Cup on May 22 in Plainfield, Ill. Sahin defeated John Paun 7-0, 7-0 in their match at 66 kg/145.5 lbs.

The wrestling community came from around the nation for an all-star dual meet which was held to celebrate the life of the late Jacob Curby.

Greco-Roman Team USA member Jacob Curby, an Illinois native, unexpectedly passed away at age 25 this winter. This event was a way for his many friends, as well as others who admired Jake, to come together in his memory.
