Kendrick Sanders named Wrestler of the Week

Kendrick Sanders (Homestead, Fla./New York AC) has been named Wrestler of the Week.

Each week, will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level.

Sanders captured the title at 66 kg/145.5 lbs. and was named Outstanding Wrestler in Greco-Roman at the inaugural Minnesota Storm Holiday Cup on Saturday in Rochester, Minn.

In a battle of two of the top Greco-Roman stars in the nation, Sanders defeated RaVaughn Perkins 0-2, 3-0, 5-0. Sanders is a member of the U.S. Olympic Education Center team at Northern Michigan.

Sanders placed third at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials. He won titles this year at the Dave Schultz Memorial International and the University Nationals.

He is a past Junior Nationals champion.
